Mathverse Olympiad
Math and science, in one exam
An olympiad for every student. Each student in grades 2–11 takes the exam at their own grade level, and the questions go from easy to hard. Every participant receives a digital certificate and a skills report.
Exam format
- Math and science questions are in the same exam.Questions come from AMS Foundation; original Mathverse questions are used only with AMS Foundation’s approval. Each grade has its own questions.
- All questions are multiple choice.Answers are chosen from the options; questions may include formulas and figures.
- Online exam: 15 December 2026 – 28 February 2027, from home.Taken on a computer or tablet in a web browser, at any time during this window.
- Each student is compared only with students in the same grade.
Rules
- The student works alone; paper and pencil are allowed, calculators are not.
- Every answer is saved as soon as it is selected. If the connection drops, the student continues where they left off with all saved answers. The timer runs on our server and does not pause during the interruption.
- Results are shared only with the parent. No public rankings are published.

What does it measure?
Math and science skills
Both areas are measured in one exam; the skills report shows math and science separately.
Math skills

Numerical reasoning
Reasoning with numbers, estimation and calculation strategies

Mathematical analysis & problem solving
Breaking a problem down, modelling it, multi-step solutions

Patterns & algebraic thinking
Finding the rule, generalising, making connections

Spatial reasoning & geometry
Shapes, nets, rotation and position

Data & probability
Reading tables and graphs, probability
Science skills

Scientific inquiry
Asking questions and forming hypotheses

Experiment & observation
Designing experiments, separating variables, interpreting observations

Cause–effect reasoning
Drawing conclusions from evidence
After the exam
- A digital certificate for every participant, with a unique code and QR for verification.
